Oregon June 2010
We left home on Monday, June 20. Our first night was to be in Bakersfield since we wanted to get the coach washed and waxed. We got stuck in a traffic jam going over the Grapevine and then ran into a little grass fire in the southbound lanes. It was very small and out quickly.
Duffy had no problem when the guys were washing the coach. He decided to just rest up for all the new smells that were to come. Bakersfield is HOT!!! Thank heavens for the air conditioners.
It always amazes me when going through Stockton you suddenly are in a port!!! It just seems strange that in the San Joaquin Valley you see large ships!!!
When we went past Lake Shasta we were pleased to see that the water was right up to the shores. No indication that it was down at all. Mount Shasta is always a magnificent sight. This day there were lots of clouds and lots of snow on the mountain. Hard to see but it is there.
We stopped for the night in Yreka, California. About dinnertime, we heard a little thunder and looked out to this eerie sky, We never got rain, just thunder and lightning.
This is our campsite in Crater Lake RV Park. It is actually located in Prospect, Oregon and in fact used to be called Prospect RV Park. The owner decided that no one knew where Prospect is but everyone has heard of Crater Lake. It's a really nice park run by really great folks. We have been going around looking at waterfalls and scenic byways. It is very nice, cool and beautiful.
Along Highway 62 which is also called Crater Lake Highway we ran into snow!!!!! This is the second time Duffy has ever seen snow. He loved it; ran all over it, ate some and then made some yellow.
Along the highway, out in the middle of a pasture, on top of a telephone pole, an osprey nest. Mama and Daddy aren't home but baby is!!!! What a glorious sight.
It ain't exactly camping!
